Everything you need to know about switching to solar with 3P Solar.

BESS4 is a NSW Peak Demand Reduction Scheme activity that supports eligible behind-the-meter battery installations for small and medium businesses from 1 September 2026. The benefit is delivered through Peak Reduction Certificates created for the project, not as a fixed cash payment.

People often search for a commercial battery rebate, but BESS4 is a certificate-based incentive rather than a rebate. The value is assigned to the certificates your project creates and is market-based, so it is not a fixed discount or a guaranteed amount.

Eligible systems have more than 20 kWh and up to 200 kWh of usable battery capacity. Systems outside that range need further assessment against the applicable scheme rules.

Grid-connected NSW small and medium business sites that are not residential buildings and not data centres may be considered, provided the equipment, installation, planning and network approval requirements of the scheme are met.

That depends on the rules of each programme at the time of installation. Some incentives cannot be claimed together for the same equipment, so eligibility should be confirmed before the system is ordered.

Yes, solar is not mandatory under BESS4. A battery can be charged from the grid during off-peak periods and discharged during peak periods, subject to your tariff and usage profile.

In many cases yes. An existing array can often be paired with new storage, subject to inverter compatibility, switchboard capacity, network approval and a site inspection.
